News Trading Policy
At Alpha, we understand the significant impact that high-impact news events can have on market volatility and trading opportunities. To support different trading styles and risk preferences, we offer a News Trading Add-On with clearly defined rules depending on your account stage.
✅ News Trading During Challenge Phases (Phase 1 & Phase 2)
News trading is fully allowed during Phase 1 and Phase 2 of your challenge.
You may open, hold, and manage trades during high-impact (red folder) news events
No News Trading Add-On is required during the challenge phases
There are no time restrictions before, during, or after news releases in Phase 1 or Phase 2
This allows traders to complete evaluations without being restricted around economic events.
Funded Stage - Without News Trading Add-On
Once you reach the Funded Stage, news trading is not allowed by default.
If you do not purchase the News Trading Add-On, the following restrictions apply to high-impact (red folder) news events:
5 Minutes Before the Event
No trades may be opened or held within 5 minutes prior to the news release.
During the Event
No trades may be open during the news release.
All positions must be closed before the event begins.
5 Minutes After the Event
No new trades may be opened within 5 minutes after the event concludes.
Any violation of these rules during the funded stage is considered a hard breach.
These restrictions exist to reduce exposure to extreme volatility once firm capital is involved.
Funded Stage - With News Trading Add-On
Traders who purchase the News Trading Add-On at checkout may trade news events without any restrictions during the funded stage, including:
Opening trades before a news release
Holding or initiating trades during the event
Trading immediately after the event with no waiting period
The News Trading Add-On is designed for traders who are comfortable managing the increased risk and volatility associated with major economic announcements.
Important Purchase Requirement
The News Trading Add-On must be selected at checkout
It cannot be added later after the account has been created
If the add-on is not purchased at checkout, funded-stage news restrictions will apply

Traders are responsible for monitoring the economic calendar
